Built to Last (from my new book, “After You Die” availiable 9-4-12)
As I have been blogging lately, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve indicated that our bodies are not the true us. The Bible says the human body is “a tent”, a place you and I live in. If you’ve ever gone camping, you know that a tent is a temporary dwelling. And by the end of the camping trip you can’t wait to exchange that tent for something better, like a house with running water and TV! A tent is not meant to be the place that you stay in day in and day out. When you come you come to the end of your camping trip, you’re done with the tent. When our lives end, we are done with our body tents. Our souls leave those tents for a permanent, eternal home. The tents of our bodies die, but our souls live on. God has built us to last forever (and that’s not just a Duracell battery thing!)
Ecclesiastes 3:11 says God has set eternity in the heart of every human. The heart here is a reference to our inner man, our soul, and eternity has been placed there by God. Meaning we, the “true” us, will never actually die. A thousand years from now, you and I will be alive somewhere. The question is… where?
Tell me what you think?

Consider these verses:
We have a perishable body ~
1 Corinthians 15
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body;
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable,
Once we have an indestructible soul body there is no longer need for food and drinks because those are needed to grow and repair and maintain a perishable flesh body.
So there is no purpose in having food, drinks, or a stomach in Heaven ~
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking
1 Corinthians 6:13 Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them.
A perishable body needs the following things which a superman indestructible soul body does not:
- Food
- Water
- Air to breathe and to hear with.
Which means our soul body has no ~
Stomach, throat, intestines, liver, kidney, pancreas, blood, heart, lungs, nose.
Based on the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus, it appears that we also have no need for cone shaped ears on the sides of our head because hearing is not by way of sound vibrations through air.
The media for sound in the spiritual realm is unknown. It won’t be air because the sound volume through this media does not decrease with distance, as happens with sound through air.
You also have two flesh ears so that the direction of sound vibrations through air can be determined.
Your flesh ears are cones, instead of small holes in your head, to collect enough sound waves to increase volume to your ear drums.
But your soul mouth will still contain a tongue so you can form words and talk.
If you don’t metabolize food you don’t need air. Specifically oxygen.
So your soul body does not need a nose.
Also based on that true story of the Rich Man and Lazarus , seeing something clearly at a far distance is not a problem.
Maybe we see without light in Heaven ? In that case our soul body does not need two eyes, only one, because our second flesh eye uses light to judge distance through Parallax.

The good news is you can’t vomit, pee, poop, or sneeze, with your soul body.
The “bad” news about your soul body is you have only one eye, no nose, no cone shaped ears on the side of your head.
So basically you look like a freakin cyborg. Sorry : (
The good news is your spiritual mind is programmed to consider this new look to be beautiful.
Just as a spider has its brain programmed to consider another spider to be beautiful, but we think they are ugly.
Also on the bright side, we aren’t the only weird looking things in Heaven :
Revelation 4:8 And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within
Which is probably one of several reasons why Jesus said – Matthew 18:3 ” I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. “
